Description:
The Girodisc system is a direct replacement for the OE iron discs on the AMG GTS, GTC, and GTR, requiring no modifications. These rotors bolt directly to the car and fit perfectly with OE calipers. Upgrading with lightweight, high-performance discs rather than a full big brake kit reduces rotational and unsprung weight, improving both acceleration and suspension response. Plus, your factory brake bias and ABS efficiency remain intact.
Each rotor features a central hat section made from U.S.-sourced 6061-T6 aircraft-grade aluminum, while the disc itself is crafted from Girodisc’s proprietary cast iron, poured in the USA and fully machined in-house. The curved vane design, adapted from racing, acts as a centrifugal pump to cool the rotor. When it’s time for replacements, you can keep the aluminum hats and change just the discs, saving over 35% on the cost of new rotors.
The rotor’s disc and hat connect via a floating mount system, utilizing 12 pins for the front and 10 for the rear, all made from high-strength alloy steel and cadmium plated for corrosion resistance. These pins handle braking loads while allowing the rotor to expand and contract with temperature changes, reducing rattle with anti-noise spring washers. This system also allows the rotor to self-center between the brake pads.
Specifications:
- Front Rotors: P/N A1-123, 390mm diameter, 36mm new (replace at 34mm). MSRP: $1500 (Disc $1000, Reusable Hat $500)
