I was walking to work in NYC(Midtown Manhattan) this morning and lo and behold in front of my eyes was a Maybach automobile!
It was obviously being test driven because the chap in front was pushing the 500hp twin turbo V12 to the Max.. well as far as he could go on Fashion Avenue (7th Ave).
Thoughts:
Its such a large car in person. Very intimidating presence and longer than anything on the road. Lets just say if you get this thing as a result of ***** envy, you would satisfactorily be the biggest on the road.
Anyway time to go back to scolding developers!

 

No way!!!!! I wonder if he was on a test drive from MB Manhattan...

By the way, i always worked in Manhattan..... 40th & Broadway now, but i used to be at 1 World Trade Center, 31st floor.

 

You are really lucky to see one in real life.

Thats a possibility... and as per testing, well you can get some testing on the engine and brakes on those long blocks...

i saw that on the today show early in the summer, how many does the dealership have around? It seems like most people would order it custom.

I saw a picture of an S320 next to the Maybach, and the Maybach is almost double the size.

 

well the maybach 62 is double the size. with a wheelbase of 6.2 meters, it's twice the wheelbase of the current S at 3.1 meters. which makes you think....HOLY CRAP!

 

I walk in from Port Authority to 46th and Park and saw it driving down 7th Ave (Fashion Ave) at about 45th St. This was during the midst of the rush hour... about 8:15am. The car is stunning. It is bar none, the biggest thing Ive seen on the road other than a full size bus! This thing is long. I didnt see them pressing it much but the streets are packed at that time of the day.

But dealerships will order some I bet, and sell them to people. Or does maybach require a owners name before they build. Because I would think that owners are going to want 2 kinds the high tech office, and the limo type. I'm guessing its not an impulse buy so mabey the dealers dont need to stock one for sale, but do they have any that you can walk in and buy?

If u have to pay 10 million to be a maybach dealer and u make 20% on a car which is extremely high then your breakeven is 166 cars based on average selling price of 300,000, and that does count paying salesman lights etc.That figure seems very high unless it is the price of building the seperate facilities they want.

 

Maybach? For the money, I would rather purchase an S600 Pullman Limousine. More room, and nicer interior, IMHO.
