No title hunt this year.

Kimi says no to title challenge
At least for this year...

Raikkonen 27 points behind Alonso in the championship
Kimi Raikkonen has ruled himself out of the hunt for the 2006 world title.
The Finn, who came close to bagging F1's biggest prize in 2003 and again last year, is tipped to leave McLaren at the end of the year after expressing frustration with his current silver-shod racer.
''The title battle will be fought between Ferrari and Renault,'' the 26-year-old told La Gazzetta dello Sport after finishing a distant fifth in Sunday's Spanish Grand Prix.
At 27 points behind the drivers' championship lead of Fernando Alonso, Raikkonen set a different target for 2006, widely thought to be his last season before switching to Ferrari.
Kimi continued: ''Me? I'll look for winning some races. At least I'll try.''
The blonde-haired racer also conceded to the Italian sports newspaper that he does not have 'a good car' this year.
Raikkonen said: ''(Barcelona) is an unforgiving track where you can't hide your flaws.''

Privately, the teams need to be realistic and somewhat transparent with their internal people. That's something else.
However, telling the media that your ambition for this season is limited to "trying to win a couple races" is really bad form.
There are only a handful of championship-winning teams in F1, so it's not exactly common sense to publicly diss your team like this. Who knows if his next team (or two) don't work out and suddenly he will realize (belatedly) that he has burned bridges with the top 3 teams...
Look at Jacques Villenueve and how his career ended prematurely ... partly due to the fact that he thought perhaps a little too highly of himself, wanted too much money and failed to see that F1 is a team-based sport...
u blame kimi?
hes just being realistic, mclaren threw away (at least) 2 of his championships and now they cant even make a car to get on the podium, would u rather have him lie?
go get the current issue of f1 magazine and read the barcelona race report

and dont blame the guy for being realistic

No way, I complete disagree with you. How disheartening is it to the crew and fans that he publicly state things like this? What you talk about in the backrooom and the front room are two different things. While I hope the best for Kimi, I think he was immature to publicly state this.
