Alonso back with Renault

as expected alonso confirmed his seat at renault after the FIA cleared their case.

Now the remaining drivers can finally get to know where they will be driving in 08. it looks loke kovalinen will team up with Hamilton.

it will be interesting to see where renault will be next year in comparisson to mclaren, especially alonso & hanilton

Yeah, they didn't specify if Alonso will be the undisputed No.1 driver and I am afraid that there will be a similar rivalry between him and Nelson as the one he had with Hamilton. It should be fun to watch.

Also, I think that Kovalainen will give Hamilton a run for his money, he is a great driver as well he just didn't have the car do to anything this year.

He only want to signed two years deal. It look to me that if thing doesn't work out with Renault in two years, he might jump to Ferrari.

Freaking Alonso . At least McLaren is getting Heikki.

I wonder if the Tifosi would welcome Alonso though? In two years Kimi will be the Tifosi second coming

'It is understood that his speed ultimately cost him the chance of staying on board at Renault, because the returning Fernando Alonso did not want a team-mate to pose the kind of challenge that he faced with Lewis Hamilton at McLaren this year.'

Hamilton, by contrast, is reported to be pressing McLaren to appoint Kovalainen as his team-mate next season rather than the undistinguished Pedro de la Rosa. Rather than be cautious of being paired with a fast team-mate, Hamilton evidently believes that such a challenge will bring out the best of his own talents - as Alonso found out to his cost last season.

Complete opposites, huh. Hamilton embraces the challenge, Alonso is too scared to be challenged.

You are all jealous of the Mighty Alonso :x :x

I think Alonso's greatest challenge will be the change in car.... company car.

I predict more on-track accidents in 2008, as the Donkey attempts to man-handle (or would that be ***-handle) his second-tier Renault as if it were a first tier McLaren, or Ferrari.

Jury is out whether he will have more shunts with Hamilton and Raikkonen, or with Nelson Piquet Jr... Children generally try to establish dominance within their family unit, first.

Discuss...

By the end of the european stint, The Donkey will be battling for wins. This will be a combination of Donkey's car development skills (some say he brought 6/10th's to McLaren), a better Renault (Renault alternates development teams, so the team that is bringing the R28 is the same team that brought you the championship winning R26... but that's not all, they practically redesigned the car mid season in '06 when mass dampers were banned. It's also the team that did magic starting with no launch control... I expect more of the same with no traction control). The 3rd element will be his clear number 1 status. MB-Bob, You can start weeping now.

You're delusional, there's no sense weeping over rich, spoiled children driving fast cars...

I've seen Alonso's type come and go countless times. Alonso's biggest challenge is himself. It's difficult to concentrate on the task at hand when you can't scratch your dandruff, because it's beyond arm's length. I'm surprised he and his helmet even fit within the cockpit.

I'm startled to think that Flavio B. would allow a "B" team to deliver him an uncompetitive car. His hat size is even bigger than Alonso's. I'm thinking you have been renting too many cheap Renaults in Europe?

yeah yeah... I've heard it all before. Be ready to be blown away! Just notice I'm not saying he'll win the championship in '08... but I think he will end it being very competitive.

C'mon Nola, we all know you can't read too much into pre-season testing times.

Complete opposites, huh. Hamilton embraces the challenge, Alonso is too scared to be challenged.
I also wouldn't reach too much into anything written by the media, esp the British media, on the LH v FA topic. And among other things, LH still needs to prove he can develop a car to Championship standards
