Karl Kling, 1910-2003

Kling was one of several drivers, including five-time world champion Juan Manuel Fangio and Stirling Moss, with whom Mercedes dominated Formula 1 in 1954-55. He led two grands prix in 1954, but his best result was second in that year's French GP.
He won Mexico's Carrera Panamericana at the wheel of a Mercedes 300SL in 1952, and his career included three German sports car titles.
His top-level racing career effectively ended when Mercedes withdrew from motorsport after the Le Mans disaster of 1955, but he continued to compete in rallying until 1968.
