MB lost badly on First Race of F1 2004
the car is so slow
renault, bar, toyota is doing damn great with good drivers this year...
when will benz have new F1?
ps. bmw new f1 looks so ugly indeed
It doesn't even matter...as long as Ferrari & Schumacher are teamed up, everyone else is running for third place!
but i don't want to see merc is getting behind BMWs...
last year it was a close call, and now bmw have new car
GRRR dont post stuff like that in the title...the race hasn't even aired here yet
You ruined my sunday mornin
I do hope to see MB over BMW...

Not only that, their development team is way behind. MP4-18 never ever came out, remember? They pushed it back so far, they ran 17D all the way through the season. That means they have had TWO YEARS to sort this car out.
I hate to say it, but until JPM hits McLaren, they're out of the running. I have always been a DC fan, but he's out. And don't bet that Kimi will stay for '05. He hasn't got a contract in place, and everyone is making big assumptions. My bet: he bails if he doesn't win the championship.
As for Scuderia Ferrari - long live the king!

Adrian Newey has a lot of work cut out for him. McLaren is down on power and reliability, and with the added rule changes, this isn't going to help.

last year i saw both dc and kr worked hardest they would...
montoya almost took kimi's place... very very close.
this year... not even a chance, since williams new car look so tough, and mclaren dont' dare to rise their compression ratio due to reliability problems.
by the way what is JPM stand for?
next round - malaysia... definitely will be more negative than aussy... a very high speed circuit...
that's terrible to hear as a benz fans...

I agree, this is not good news for McLaren fans at all. I just wonder what the hell is going on there. Did they lose a major sponsor or something? For such a technically proficient team, they have certainly lost the edge. And Adrian Newey isn't worrying about America's Cup right now, so...

Don't forget F1 has very little to do with MB & BMW all they do is supply an engine. It's up to the team to get the overall set up and package right. Something Ferrari have been doing for years.
Nice Ponton Carl ( I have a 1955 220a Black with red leather)
Dude, you got the Z? Rock on! Give me the details! What spec, options, etc? When??
I dig the blue for sure. Easily my favorite color on the car. PM me the info, we'll keep this F1 chat.

Mercedes owns 40% of McLaren, so it's a little closer to the Ferrari situation. The BMW-Williams relationship is more supplier-team, and not particularly harmonious.
Trench: I've heard that McLaren has approached Ron Dennis, Murray and co. multiple times recently about upping their stake. Any truth to that?

I hadn't heard anything about DC trying to acquire a larger stake, but considering that McLaren Cars alone is building the SLR and a future Merc supercar (never mind the investment in McLaren International), it wouldn't surprise me if they weren't at least trying for a majority postition. (I can see how a large multinational might not want to be at the mercy of two individuals, although the relationship seems to have been very good to date.)
KR will replace MS @ Ferrari, pending Michael's retirement.
Alonso will remain @ renault.
The biggest loser of the Sepang race was IMO Jacque Villaneuve. With JB third place in the BAR, Mr. Richards "bootstrapped" JV in the gut.
Final assessment I also believe that the Merc's should go back to the Bridgstone rubber. Michelin just are not going to cut it this season. Sepang is an indication of things to come.
