radio volume feature delete

mbtech, do you know of an easy way to disable this auto-volume feature on MB radios? It says take it to the dealer but they're always busy.

I think only the dealer can do it since they have the computer. You could try to disconnect your speedo, then the speed would be constant and the volume wouldnt change.

Sorry about that Lee- just having some Wednesday fun!!

Maybe on a model newer than a 99 you might be able to turn it off but my car is a 99 and I just had it turned off. I asked if there was a way to turn it off by pressing a certain combo of buttons and they said no, it had to be hooked up to a lap top that they have.

disconnecting the speedo is easier than going to the local dealer

can confirm (at least for my car), required a trip to the dealer.

hooked it up to a diagnostic machine, and was on my way in literally 5 minutes.

Also had them turn-off the security feature "lights on at night for a minute after you turn the car off and lock her up". (sorry for using such complicated technical talk )

Hey Drew!

How did you do that security feature "lights on at night for a minute after you turn the car off and lock her up" do you have to go to the dealer for that? Becuz somtimes that's kind of annoying!

JamE55 - on the ML you with "key" in on posiiton 1, press-n-hold fog light switch...

for lights on after key removed....

the ML you with "key" in on posiiton 1, press-n-hold fog light switch.... In the Gear Indicator display, you will see a number 0,15,30,45,60 representing the number of seconds of lights-on. Press foglight switch to sequence.

Lee is correct Jam, a pit-stop at the 'stealership' is required.

I don't know if you remember (or were on the board then) an E55 owner with the handle of 'E'. He pointed out to me the auto-volume solution and the at-times annoying lights-stay-on problem: he felt that having the lights go on was less of a safety feature ... and more of a 'look at me and my nice new 'benz' feature (akin to the beep-of-the-horn when locking the car with the remote ... which i have disabled as well).

i'm going to the dealer tomorrow to turn off the auto-volume feature. i think it would be ok if the change in volume wasn't so great. is it adjustable at all?

Although I had it turned off, I think I remember the Tech. asking me if I just wanted it reduced.
