Car is a 1997 E320 with 130000 miles

I have noticed that when I turn on my heat the lower part of my windshield fogs up then clears up. Is my heater core leaking? I don't feel any fluid leaking inside the car. Does the heater core have a drain going outside? I do smell the sweet smell. When I turn on the a/c I also here the refridgerant moveing in the system. Does my expansion valve need to be replaced?

Its most likely the heater core. Both of the symptoms you mentioned sweet smell (anti freeze) and moisture are symptoms of that.
