C55 Oil Change - Dipstick Measurement (113.988)
Planning on changing my oil and have purchased the Baum oil dipstick (MB OEM part number 120 589 07 21 00).
My questions are...
1. The dipstick readings are millimeters - I've researched that the correct level reading is 160mm. Is this correct? Is there a relation of quantity to measurement - such as 10mm = X quantity.
2. The dipstick does not fully insert into the dipstick tube. It seems to reach the bottom of the oil pan with 4in. of the dipstick remaining. Is this correct? - as the dipstick is listed for other engines.
Thanks in advance.
Ken.

Where did you get the 160mm specification?
I am trying to find the same information for my W211 E500 4matic (engine number 113.969). The dealer service department was unable to provide the correct specification. I only get a reading of about 120mm and the dipstick consistently bottoms out when the top of the dipstick tube lines up with the 640mm mark. BTW, even with the seemingly low value of 120mm my dashboard engine oil check reports oil level as okay.
You can get an idea of the approximate conversion between mm and liters from the 6th message posted on this thread which shows the specs for the 113.967 engine.

It's roughly one liter per 10mm on the dipstick. But it does not seem to be a linear relationship.
