Could someone pls adv. My 260E 1989 lately has developed starting problems. Everytime I start my engine I have to depress the accelerator pedal to give gas. If I do not the engine shuts off or if I release the accelerator the engine dies. I have to give gas up to 1000 rpm for a minute then the engine will continue to run. However, after shutting the engine off and starting it again, there is no problem. The car runs very well on the freeway lots of power. Sometimes but rarely when I come to a stop sign the engine may shut down. I was suspecting a defective fuel pump but why is it on the freeway there is no problem. Is there a cold start sensor or some device that is not giving suficient gas in the initial start up? Thank you kindly in advance.
