95 SL500 Check Engine How do I pull codes on this car?

The check engine light came on yesterday. It seems to run fine. I didn't see an OBDII hookup under the dash.

Can I pull codes on this car myself or do I need MB Tech specific equipment?

Thanks

Oh come on. I'm certain that at least one of you knows how to pull codes on a 95 sl500.

Please tell me how.

OBDII did not start until '98 (?) but you may have OBDI, or may not. It wasn't required back then. Keep looking for the connector location as it wasn't standardized until OBDII I believe. May be under the hood? Just guessing.

OBDII was required in 1996, but some models had it in 95 also.
Maybe a few in 94? Not too sure on that.

If it's like my car, there's a small unit in front of the battery where you pop the lid and press a button for 3 secs. It'll give a number of flashes which is the error code. The button needs to be pressed again (for 3 secs) after every code until it starts repeating. One flash means no codes. If you do a search for code reading you may find more info.

Thanks for replying. I'll give it a try.
