Question Alternator Pully Wheel

I experienced an engine shutdown last Friday night. I looked under the hood and on my left is what I assumed was the alternator. The wheel looked crooked along with the belt. When we started the the car it immediately started to smoke. The car started and the only light on the dashboard was the ccheck engine light which is on anyways and is another story. But I want to get this fixed. I was going to force the wheel back on but I'm thinking the center bolt is probably stripped and so I would probably need an new alternator anyways. What do you think ? and has anybody else experienced this ?
