EPC problem

EPC problem
I have a E270 CDI 2001
Was driving it today
and suddenly a warning notice showed up "el. power control EPC visit workshop" 
. Tha car continued to run, but gears shifted not like usually, or i just felt it was different, anyway when i stopped the car was kind of shaking and the rpm indicator was not standing still like usually but also shaking. 
Then i turned the car off and after sometime on, and everything was ok for a little while, after i drove for 2 minutes, the warning showed up again.
Can anyone plz tell me what might be the reason for that.
