Tire/front end noise
My car currently has on a fairly new set of Goodyear E1's with the stock '98 Sport rims. I know these tires are noisy, but I think I have more of an issue. Aside from the road howl one can expect at highway speeds, there is a noise/feeling that kicks in while speeding up and slowing down at the 20mph mark. Especially slowing down.
I'll try to explain the noise...I imagine I have worn or somehow 'bad' front wheel bearings. Going down past 20mph, there is a distinct "rubbing" noise I can hear coming from the front, combined with a feeling in the wheel. not so much as an obvious vibration, but definitely a 'feel'.
It isn't brakes rubbing or rotors.
I've had the car into the dealer 6 months ago and I mentioned the problem. They told me it was due to the tread pattern of the tires. I suppose it's possible, but I just can't live with it. If swapping out a new set of tires (different brand) was an option, I'd try it, but that's an expensive experiment.
Is this somewhat clear enough to form an opinion?
Hi there, I hope you can help me Mr. Tech.

I can live with it as long as I can look forward to peace & quiet when the Michelins arrive.
Frankly, I'm surprised MB would have picked these for OEM. Surely some engineer noticed this problem along the way.
