STRING CODING-2nd post
I am working with my local MB guy to change a few minor things on my S550. I have a Canadian car and the new Star Diagnose is locked out of many menus in this car (W221). I wonder if anyone out there can help me, I need the STRING CODING for the CENTRAL GATEWAY for a US spec W221.

The coding string is generated in Germany using the cars VIN- I suppose it MIGHT be possible to use a string off an identical equipped car- however, with things like mph vs kph, I'm thinking weird things might happen and you would have no way of knowing what numbers to change and to what.
Also bring to the table that here in the USA, we all have our own passwords to the SCN site, as the EPA needs to be able to track who changed/coded the control unit (for emissions), and I would think the chance of someone 'helping you out' is slim. Especially when you are trying to make your car illegal (for all purposes) in another country.
