Engine replacement

Engine replacement
I have a 1992 300E with 185k on the odometer. My son will be using the car next year as a dd, so I'm thinking about having the engine replaced. Before I received the car, a new head gasket was installed, but I still have engine oil leaks.
Any help on cost, or other overhauls that night be cheaper would be appreciated. I'm located on Long Island, NY.
Thanks.

First determine where the leak is. the 300e's are notorious for leaks at the head gasket expecially right in front. If it was not fixed correctly, then it may be leaking still. If it's a valve cover leak then it's really cheap to fix.

At 185K, you most likely only need a top end overhaul if even that. Assuming you have a good running car other than the oil leaks I would have a good shop address the oil leaks only and see what happens.
