Question Command system bugs/glitches

This question is for MBTech 208

Dear MBTEch:

These are just some of the Command system glitches I experienced in my 00 E55: no volume coming out from the speakers, sound coming only from the passenger side, CD start at CD1 track 1 after restarting the car when engine was turned off with CD on etc.etc. Granted that except for the last problem the other problem is not regular and can be remedied/reset by turning engine off and on again, would the updated Command system software update eliminate these glitches??

Also how many updated Command software update has it been since it was released.

TIA,

E55MKB

I know that recently a COMAND software update came out that fixes this problem. You will need to have the Service Dept. apply this update.

BTW, if you are in Europe and you are getting COMAND problems, then MB have issued a s/w update for MY2001 vehicles, which is meant to be installed if you report problems with your voice recognition.

The s/w update contains software that is dated just before the MY2002 software and many months after the original release, so is likely to contain many other bug fixes ...

So, perhaps if you are pesistant the MB dealer may install it for you.

Im trying to persuade someone [anyone] to install the s/w update on the MY2000 COMAND and seeing if it helps that, as that is full of bugs.

For those who care :-

Comand 2.0 (C,CLK,ML,E,G,SL) , there are effectively 3 versions of the software
MY2000, doesnt show the MB sign when it starts up
MY2001, shows MB sign, has SMS read and erase
MY2002, shows MB sign, has SMS read, reply, edit etc

There seems to be 3 types of COMAND 2.0 hardware
- very early, with gear driven (noisy) CD player
- later, in MY2000 belt driven CD
- MY2001 and on, has the phone-pad letters on the keypad

I think similar applies to Comand2.5 (S/CL), and to US vehicles, although perhaps the earliest ones never made it to the US.

Sounds to me like what Adam said. You need the COMAND update.
