Question Replacing steering wheel

Does anyone knows how to replace airbag steering wheel on mercedes car (I own an ML)? I am planning to replace my leather steering wheel with wood & leather. Do I need a special tool to remove the airbag cover? Do I need to unplug the battery in order to prevent the airbag from engaging? How long should I wait after the battery is unpluged?

Feel the two holes behind the steering wheel? They're Torx-head bolts, and I forget what size they are. Remove those, and you will be able to take the airbag off after you unplug it. No need to disconnect the battery, the airbag is disabled by just having the key off. Just make sure you don't turn the ignition on with the airbag unplugged, or you will set an SRS code. After the airbag is off, there's a 10 mm Allen bolt holding the actual wheel on. Take this off, and before you remove the wheel, PAY ATTENTION TO THE SMALL ORANGE MARKS THAT ALIGN THE WHEEL!! If you don't spline the wheel just right, you will have an off-center steering wheel that you will spend DAYS trying to adjust. Bon appetit.
