Angry 2002 S500 very sluggish (CPS maybe)?

At first the car was very hesitant to start, it would turn over for about 3 to 4 second before actually starting. Now when the car starts it runs and idles very rough. It smells like it is running rich. The more I drive it the worse it gets. When it get hot it hesitates very bad acting like it is missing or running on a few less cylinders. I was told that it was probably the Mass airflow meter and When I bought a new one and replaced it the car acted just the same. Could it be the Cam position sensor? If anyone can help I would appreciate it.

It does sound like a Mass Air Sensor. I would also check for vacuum leaks as well. However, the main thing with the Mass Air Sensor is when it is replaced it needs to be programmed with a computer. Its not just a plug and play item. If it is not programmed correctly it will cause that issue. Also, make sure the part number of the Mass Air Sensor you have is the correct one. I've seen some issues of parts departments giving out the wrong one. IE- 6 cylinder sensors in 8 cylinder engines or vice versa.
