Could use some help with a touble code

On the way home my S320 started running rough, at stop lights it seemed to about stall. Put the code reader to it and got PO 306 Cylinder 6 misfire detected. On a list of codes I found it says it could be spark plus, wires dist caprotor ignition coil or fuel injection. From all of your experiance does anyone have a better idea of what it is or best place to start.

Thanks in advance

Drive on
Rod

The 104 engine (your's) uses a COP waste type spark system- 2 cylinders- 1 coil- so probably not that unless that coil terminal is burned - that happens too. Most likely is the connector/plug wire resistor- very common. You have to pull the cover off the valve cover and look at it.

??????

MBTech21 - after clearing the code the problem went away so I basicly forgot about it. Then yesterday when I punched it to merge onto the Freeway as I let up on the gas the ck eng light came back on and once again the car ran like crap. So by letting off the gas from a hard acceleration would very likely cause a backfire. Clearing the code again cleared up the problem. So my question is do you still think what you said before is the problem? Why does clearing the code fix the way the car runs? Thanks

When it sees a misfire on a cylinder- it shuts ot off, to help save the cats (if a cylinder was misfiring, and you kept giving it fuel, the fuel would collect in the cats and burn them up), so, you clear it, and until it misfires again, all is good.
