HELP! Leaky Sunroof (W202)

Hey,

It's pouring rain outside...and my sunroof on my 1996 C220 is leaking. Nothing too terrible, but just drops every now and then. This has happened once or twice before, and the dealer has looked at the roof before. I'm up at school right now, so I can't bring it to a dealer. Any help for the time being? Thanks.

Todd

Leaky Sun Roof

Hey.. I just want to add. My sun roof leaks from time to time as well. I have a 97 C280. When it pours out side is when it seems it want to leak. Just a drip here and there.... I thought that I didnt have the roof all the way closed. When it happened more than once, I know it wasnt me...

Hey,

This happened a couple times before too. It's nothing too terrible, just annoying. I believe the dealer flushed out the sunroof rails (to get debris out) a couple years ago, and that seemed to have done the trick (probably sealed better). I'm going home from school on October 12, so I'll have it checked out then. I love my car, but I hope it doesn't rain...

sorry, i thought you meant sort of an emergency workaround until you got it taken care of professionally... have you tried an aftermarket sunroof place? they may be able to add a lining or something.

btw, what's your avatar? is that the porcelain dish maker? cornell ware? something like that.

my mistake. i was thinking about corningware.

Young: Thanks for the suggestions, but it's not that big of a deal...I can wait until I go home.

And bad joke with the Cornell/Corning. I actually don't like the avatar too much...going to try a new one soon.

Sun/moon roof leaks.

Your roof drainage tubes may be clogged. They are put there to scavange water that gets by the roof seal.

Hey mleskovar,

Is this something I can do, or should I just leave it to the dealer when I get home?

Drainage holes?

You can do it if you're game. Open the roof all the way and look in each corner until you locate the drain holes...clean them out with a vacuum if it's obvious. Then fill the channel with water and see if the drain holes work. If they are clogged real bad it may take some air pressure to clear them.
