sunroof problem

Hey guys. I drive an 05 c230k and my sunroof is being goofy. It wont go back if I hold the button. I have to keep pressing it every second or so, total of about 20 presses for it to move fully back. It will automatically move forward and close if I pres the button.. just not back. Any ideas?

With it in the closed position, press the sunroof button to the first detent UP like if you were to pop it open by raising the back instead of fully opening it. Hold it for a few seconds and retry the express opening feature. For some reason it sounds like your sunroof lost it's normalizing position.

Good advice but for what it is worth I think one needs to hold it up for closer to 10 seconds, so didn't want you to give up to soon. You will hear/feel the motor kick in for a brief moment when it resets.

Synchronizing the roof, equally as windows is one thing. If it does not help then the roof needs to be lubricated, it is not moving smoothly enough. When closing, the car believes there is something blocking in the way, like a person, and for safety stops and moves a bit back. When opening, it just stops to protect the motors and the mechanical parts..

Synchronizing the roof defenatly helped... the roof just didnt want to open in auto. i would have to hit the button like 20 times to open and to close was the same thing... took your advice on lubricating and the problem is gone. it now fully opens AND closes in auto... thank you for the advice
