02 C230 Oxygen Sensor Trouble

Car has 38K miles. This is the second time in 4 months that the check engine light has come on. Changed the pre-cat O2 sensor first and problem went away for 4 months. Now it's on again and I've changed the post-cat sensor and re-set the computer. Check engine light comes back on. Checked for obvious vacuum line problems, but nothing. Hand held computer says it's the O2 sensor. Anyone have suggestions? Great little car to drive, but I hope this isn't the beginning of more trouble to come.

O2 sensor trouble

Thanks for the response. The trouble codes are P0131 (low volts, bank 1, sensor 1 and P0130 (circuit malfunction).

Is there a way to test or fix the MAF sensor?

Thanks again, Dave

there is no way of fixing the MAF. Replacement is the only choice. Testing can be done with a factory scan tool. Not sure if any aftermarket ones can do it.

03 E500 and Corvette
I have found on my Corvette that I have to change all 4 O2 sensors to get back to reliable operation. Everytime I change one another will fail soon after. They all have the same number of run hours and therefore all will fail statistically about the same time. So to save frustration I just change them all at one time. Jim

Emissions control components--which I think includes O2 sensors--are by law warranted for 8yr/80K miles.

You might want to have dealer fix your problem.
