Quick question about Rotors

Quick question about Rotors
I just bought some rear rotors. They look like this:
It looks like it has a gray coating all over it. Do I install the rotor as is, or do I have to machine that coating off at a shop or something?
Every rotor I've bought before had a metallic finish out of the box, except this one...
