New guy with questions
My daughter just bought a 78 300D 4 door. It's in pretty good shape, and has the owner's and operators manuals and a chiltons or haynes or something similar. I have found that a good factory manual is more expensive for most vehicles, but worth several times the difference in cost. Any leads on where to purchase this item would be appreciated. I'm the poor SOB that will be maintaining the car until she learns more about routine care and troubleshooting, etc. My daughter is only 16, paid for the car herself (next to nothing), and I figure a diesel will force her to drive sensibly.
I think she got a good deal on the car. 156K miles, no body damage or rust, and the suspension seems to be in good shape. So far, just annoying things are wrong, like window regulators, locks, etc.
I intend to replace all the fluids right away, along with filters, and begin a log for her to follow. I will use factory recommended service intervals, but if those have been superceded due to oil improvements or whatever, advice is welcomed. I would like to check the glow plugs before it gets cold, so advice on how to do that would be likewise appreciated.
This looks like a good forum. I didn't see a thread for this model, but that might have been newbie ignorance. Thanks for your indulgence.
