Can anyone help with installation of running boards on GLs.. MY GL came without them and I need running board so my parents can get in and out little easier. Dealer wants almost $ 700 to install them, estimates 6 to 7 hrs job.. are they that difficult?

running boards are subbed out at my dealership ,but we do the side steps, and yes i think you should have them professionaly installed ,they will look good and stay on ,i have seen a few sets put on from diy and all i can say is HACK! spend the money and cry once ,not everytime they fall off.just my advice and goodluck,

It's the sort of job that when it comes into a dealer all the techs seem to disappear. Get it installed by the dealer, it's save you a big headache!

Would anyone know the step-in height of the GL 320? Or better yet .... have a comparisn to the LR3? Is there the abilty to manually lower the GL for step-in? I am coming out of an LR3 and have a "08 GL 320 on order. With the LR3you have the abilty to lower the truck to make it easier for children and grand parents etc to get in. Any assitance is appreicated.

I don't have dimensions but I can measure and post I can do that tomorrow evening. There is air suspension which lowers or raises the GL by 3 inches. However, we got running boards installed as my mother has having tough time climbing in. Running boards make it very easy to get in and out.

The door sil is at approx 19 inches off the ground. the PE running boards are 11 inches off the ground.. Hope this helps.
