Repairs to Mercedes Benz Instrument Clusters

I am looking for some technical help and advice on the subject of repairs to VDO instrument clusters. I have a 1995 C200 Sport Auto that has a faulty tachometer. The data is being sent to the unit from the sensor, but the unit does not display. Is anyone aware of whether repairs are possible and if so advice on who to contact. Additionally, any technical information on the units would be very useful.

I have had problems with the needles sticking to the stop peg on my "95 C280 (W202). Of course, the needle does not indicate any value when this occurs. The cluster can be removed and opened. There are clips that can be carefully disengaged to split the front half of the cluster from the rear. Carefully clean the pointer and the peg. Rub the peg with some silicone on a Q-Tip swab. I have had this problem on all the instruments on this car.
