Unhappy Airmatic problem - 2003 E500

I have a 2003 E500 w/67,000 miles. Today a red warning light started coming on and off, 'Car too low - do not drive' The front right appears to be lower than the front left. Any suggestions on what the problem could be? Any ideas of repair cost?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions/ideas.

Could be a leaking air strut, leaking air line/fitting, or air distribution block.

Airmatic problem

Thanks for your response. I've looked and listened for any air leaks, but cannot hear or feel any. I've also checked the fuses, (I think it's #37) but no problem there either. If it were a fuse I would expect the problem on all four quarters. Any ideas on how to trouble shoot? . . . or is it just a trip to the dealer and $$$

I would have guessed for a leak too. If it really doesn't sound like leaking, perhaps it is an Airmatic valve issue. A leaking strut would be pretty expensive, the control valve assembly should be less (but I have not checked the price).

Have it towed to the dealer. For one thing, it's not safe to drive (thus your display). For another, if there is a leak (and/or a bad relay, which is common), the pump will burn out from being run continuously and your cost will go way up. The Airmatic suspension is very complex and takes specialized expertise and equipment to repair correctly. And mistakes can cause serious accidents.
