I have a 2003 clk and have 128,000 miles. Never changed my fluids that were lifetime and the car is running perfect. Just my 2 cents.

If you do change those fluids you will notice the car feels and responds a whole lot nicer. Changing the brake fluid and flushing those lines also results in a noticeably more responsive braking system.

2005 C230K Sport Sedan, 6 speed manual
I changed the fluid in both my manual transmission and my rear differential at 30,000 miles. Fluids were available at local MB dealer (not cheap). I will continue to change them every 30K miles.

I have seen the 30K recommendation for many car brands in the past. I don't believe in "lifetime" fluids. Changing the oil in the transmission or differential is much cheaper than replacement of those components (due to neglect).
