what might brake?

Ok, I posted this on the w123 forum, but thought I'd post here too,

I just purchased a 1985 300D with 167k miles and a WVO system from greasecar (two tank system). Everything seems to work great on the car (though the car doesn't hold a vacuum for more than a minute after shut-down).
So, here's the question... What are the likely things to go wrong on the car mechanically? It seems very reliable and had been pretty well cared for, but it is 22 years old. I'd like to know what parts I should keep in the trunk so I don't get stranded on the side of the road. I figured extra fuel filters were a pretty good idea, but past that I really don't know. I'm pretty mechanical, but this is my first diesel.
thanks,
ben

The first thing you should keep in the trunk is an english textbook. The correct spelling of "brake" in this scenario is BREAK.

Damn sosh!! seriously, I hope your kidding. German car forums don't need ****'s

123's will run forever! Keep up on the maintanance, you should be running striong. I've seen them upwords of 350k miles on the original engine/trans. the biggest hurdle is age, not mileage. rubber deteriorates, so check your belts, hoses, engine mounts, brake lines, suspension bushings, and check them often. Love the car it will always be a celebrated classic.

Like in the W123 forum, fix the vaccumum system now, before it causes a birage of other problems.

Get rid of the WVO garbage.

Proper spelling and grammar is, of course, always appreciated. I side with Sosh.

LOL.... german car forum ****'s

The vacuum pump that runs your door locks also runs the engine shutoff actuator, trans shift transducer, and climate controls. So as advised, the vacuum system should be fixed. It will only get worse as time goes on.
