ML430 oil question what weight?

Just wondering if anybody has used Mobil one 15w50. I have a 1999 ML430 with 120,000 miles. I just did and oil change and I used 15w50 instead of the usual 0w40. I know MB specs are 0w40. But since it's a high mileage and I live in California, should this weight be O.K. or should i switch back after 5000 miles. I hear a lot of debates on weights.

I would not use 15W even in California. But it isn't only the viscosity, it should have minimum MB229.3 approval, preferably 229.5 and I did not find Mobile 15W- 50 fulfilling this:

I hear you. But it is on the
MB sheet 229.1 approved oils
for passenger cars with gas and diesel engines, used to be minimum spec for latest (98+) engines

I would drive it the normal time then change to the 0w40. The oil used is also a good oil.

stick with the 0w40 mobil, 15w is too heavy at startup. I would also recommend sticking with the flex intervals. 5k is too early for a change, your just wasting money. My 98 E320 has 270,000 miles on her and has always had the flex services only.
