Repainting the valve cover? Mine looks ****e.

Lurking around the place, I noticed that a lot of the W202 models had the grey/red valve cover arangement in the engine bay. Mine did not. In fact, it came in a strange deep gold/copper color, which now has corroded/ peeled, and looks horrid.

I want to clean it up. I am doing some engine work: new coolant + hoses, Royal Purple 5W-30 Synthetic, K&N oil filter, K&N air filter, replacing the belt, belt tensioner shock, spark plugs, and also order a valve cover gasket since I'm doing this.

My worry is, that I might need a special tool or some tip to remove it, and not mess something up really bad. Also, I know that I need to use hi-temp paint on this, but what should I go with? If I want to make it nicer, is there hi temp clear available? Will the paint be resistant to oil and such? (Well, it IS engine paint, but never hurts to ask, right?)

Oh and finally, any colors you guys think would look good, but not too rice?

-Max.
