fuel smell

Once the car warms up running there is a fuel smell inside, once you you go out of the car and go back again after awhile you could still smell the fuel. I replaced the fuel pumps(checked for leaks), fuel filters, injector o-rings and some hoses. there is no visible leaks, as I had it checked already by 3 MB mechanics already. But still the problems can't be solved. Any inputs will be so much appreciated! Thanks!

Depending on what year and model, there is currently a recall campain conncering the fuel pump. The syptoms are exactly what you are describing. This could be potentially dangerous. Check it out at once.

Leaking electrohydraulic actuator is common cause of fuel smell under hood.

It's 1988 260E, the last mechanic who checked the car told me there is a leak in one of the fuel pump, but fixed it already. I will check the EHA, coz almost all
the inputs I get suggests that part. Do a hole in a tank also causes thei kind of problem? Thanks!
