1989 420SEL STARTING ISSUE
Hi All,
On my 89 420SEL when starting it takes a bit to catch(3-5 seconds) than low rpm's and followed by a stall. On second crank it starts runs rough and than smooths out. This is not a constant, but it has been happening more often than not.
It has 52K and has had cap, rotor, plugs, and wires within the past 18 months. All fluids(brake, transmission, rear, steering, radiator)have been changed also. My first thought was fuel filter, followed by fuel pump relay.
How do I go about making a better diagnosis.

I drive a 1991 300SE
That is the same exact thing that happens with my '91 300SE. Over the winter it sat a little bit and the starting problem got even worse. The mechanics fixed a cold start injector for me and that helped a lot, However it still will not catch the first time then the second it starts and idles low and almost dies. Once it runs though it runs good.
