s500 problem...........
hi there....my first post and not a great start to mb ownership...
my s500 v8 wouldnt start for me today,it will turn over ok just not fire,then i let it sit for about 5 mins opened it as normal and it started first time,had a drive around the coast and was dropping a friend of at his house,we were sitting in the car with it ticking over...and it just stopped...now it wont start...anyone experience this? any help would be appreciated.....

its a 2000 car.......would a crank position sensor stop the car once its started and ticking over?
the car starts ok when cold,seems to be once its warmed up it wont start....

Why confused? When the CPS goes, it's heat sensitive. That's why everyone is telling you it sounds like a bad CPS.

It's bolted outside the flywheet, near where the engine and transmission mate.

The torx retaining bolt can be tough to get to without the right extension.
I don't know if it throws a code. Normally, hot stalling with inability to restart until the engine cools is all the diagnosis one needs.
