Does an Overfilled Transmission alter Trans Operation?

1980 MBZ 300SD, 03 Audi A8, 97 Volvo 960
Does an Overfilled Transmission alter Trans Operation?
I have a 1980 MBZ 300SD with 134 k miles. It runs perfectly except it will not go in to first gear no matter what. It won't start out in it and it won't kick down in to it. All other aspects of tranny operation are normal. The trans was just serviced and it also seems to have been overfilled. Any opinions?

Overfilling can cause a problem but I don't think so in your case but I will keep my fingers crossed

It's possible. Overfilling causes the oil to foam and that could cause shifting problems. You need to get the level corrected ASAP.

I have no idea about your model but I have read numerous times that overfilling the 722.6x transmission on the W210 causes problems.
