Engine converesion on a w211
hi... i have recently siezed the engine in my wifes W211 E240... The E240 drives like crap compared to my E500 so i'm doing an engine conversion . I want to put a Chev LS1 5.7 6 speed in it. Does anyone know how i can get the electronic on the dash to work or will it work .? ? thanks...
Before anyone post about how silly it is or not to do it... DON"T... my mind is made up and thats what i'm doing. I want to ask for your help on how to get this project to work and come together, not opinion on how silly i am...Thanks

well, interesting. My friend has a lightly modded LS1 in a pontiac firehawk w/ 6 speed. it's fast.
as far as guages go. i don't doubt that you could get the stock guages to work with the ls1 setup it would just involve about 50 hrs of splicing wires and stuff like that, i know a guy that put a altima 3.5l v6 in a sentra and it took him about 50hrs of wiring and custom fab just in the electronics.

There is CLK320 C209 in Sydney with the same set-up i've seen. I just can't seem to get hold of who done the conversion. The current owner bought the car from the auction so he doesn't know who use to own it or who done the work. I didn't get his number as i didn't think i would do the same conversion and need his help... just thought it was a nice set-up at the time...lol
I also read a thread on this forum that someone knew how to make the canbus system talk to the E40 LS2 computer but i haven't heard back from him yet...
