airmatic rebound dampening?

just wondering if anyone else hears/feels a clunk from the rear suspension on the S500 when the suspension rebounds quickly?.like when you drive over a parking lot speed bump and the suspension drops away on the back side of the bump.this is an airmatic question.if it isnt normal than im thinking internal valving or top strut mount.

Our E500 with the same type suspension had a thunk sound when hitting a hard pot hole and it has had this since new. There is no loosness,, I think it is just chassy sound. We now have 80,000 miles and this sound has not changed when we hit a pot hole,, Hitting a pot hole here is relatively easy

and i absolutely agree with the potholes in your state.from orange tx, to lake charles on I-10 is some of the roughest road in america.i guess the clunk is relatively normal then and ill just accept it as normal operation for airmatic.

I have the same sound on my E55....when I had the car on the hoist to get the wheels put on, I took a peek at the rear suspension and found the metal cylinder next to the airbag (I think its either a shock absorber or a strut??) had oil and dirt around where the one cylinder goes into the other cylinder...can that part be replaced or do I have to replace the whole thing, airbag included?? both sides had this oil and dirt sediment
