Fleece oil filter for 2005 E320 CDI

I have been looking for a fleece oil filter for my 2005 E320 CDI. The MB service manual calls for 613 180 00 09. This is only a paper filter. The dealer only have a paper filter also. Some web site are stating 000 180 26 09 are ok for 2005 E320.

Is there a fleece oil filter for 2005 E320 CDI or not ????

Thanks

Chris

The fleece filter is for petrol engines. There is no fleece filter listed for the diesel engine.
You can use a fleece filter from a petrol engine in the cdi (it fits), but MB don't list it for reasons unknown to me, but I'm sure they have a good reason so I would stick to the paper filter as listed.

2006 E320 CDI
E320 CDi fleece oil filter

I just want to make it clear or I should say "air" the confusion.
I have a 2006 E320 CDI.
The manual clearly states that if I use synthetic oil (Mobil 1 European Blend perrfered) that I must use a "fleece" oil filter. The only problem is Mecedes Benz does not have a "fleece" oil filter specifically for the E320 CDI. Therefore we (CDI owners) will be violating the manual either by 1) using the only stated oil filter (6191800009) which is paper, or 2) using the close but not exact oil filter (0001802609) which is fleece. Please, telling us to us the MB recommended filter doesn't help as you can see we can't as Mercedes documentation tells us to use something that does not exist.

Check with autohausaz. Punch in your Yr/Model and see whats listed. Chances are if there is a fleece available they will have it. Read descriptions carefully for media type. OEM is Mann.

Good luck.

Been there, done that. Also on rmeuropean.com as well as another dozen or so sites. The filter listed (on all these sites) for the 2005-06 E320 CDI is a paper filter, not fleece. The documentaion (that came with the car) says if using synthetic oil then use a fleese filter. But NONE is available for this model. I have seen a rather long and indepth discussion on another site on this topic. Opinion is (from dealers) that Mercedes went a little nuts with the fleece requirement statment. There is no fleece oil filter for the 2005-06 E320 CDI. The OEM spec paper filter does meet the needs, if and when a fleece filter becomes available then use it. But as of now no flleece filter exists for this car.

You might try going to the MANN site -

http://www.mann-hummel.com/

and see if you can contact them with your question. If you find out anything, please post as I've seen other questions regarding this issue.

From MB docs the part number I come up with for a 2005 E320cdi (648 engine) is A613 180 00 09.

In any event, I wouldn't rely on the FSS+ for oil change service cycles with a paper filter. If using Mobil 1 (229.51), I might split the difference and change at about 7500. Just my $0.02.

Good luck.
