starter battery
hi all, i have a 2002 r230. i got the stop engine sign while driving, after a better/alternator sign, and the electrical consumers offline signs. the car was used for the past week with no issues, what could be the problem.
my other question is, if my alternator or starter battery are weak, will this reduce the preformance of my car? if yes by how much? (in hp maybe)

I would say it's the alternator playing up and or the consumer battery getting weak. Most likely the alternator seeing the message came up while driving.
I'm a bit concerned that you are worried about a drop in HP.......remember, your brakes are electric, you need power to stop!!!!

lol good point...
but my car is modded and i still dont know why i dont have power.
anyways took it and got the alternator replaced cuz it wasnt working, then the car still shut off... so i have to change the gas pump.
i also changed the consumer battery.
dunno whats next hehe.

What model (engine) SL do you have?
What are the symptoms of the low power (misfire, feels flat, happens when hot/cold, was it sudden to gradual change, what mods do you have, low end or top end power etc)?
What happened when the engine shut down? Was is sudden? did it restart immediately or after waiting?

the power loss is an older problem. i got the new alternatopr and petrol pump and now everything seems to be ok.
i bought this car not long ago, and the seller told me it put 585hp to the wheel. when i dynoed the car i got only 365hp. the car was not driven for 4 yrs.
he changed the battery at the dealer once and maybe that reset the ECU. do u think i will lose so much power if my ECU was flashed to normal sl500 settings?
it has a 5.6L bored block, brabus heads, and a kleemann supercharger. with kleemann camshaft and headers.
i dont have a kleemann dealership here in kuwait, the closest one is in dubai. so i might be taking it there to check whats wrong with it. or ill just get an ECU tune. from another dealer.
