I Reset Service Light And Service Mileage is stuck on 13,000
I also am having trouble right now with the Reset. I followed the directions in the PDF to a T on this site about resetting service light and was able to remove the service B overdue message to service A in 13,000 miles. However, I started driving around and the 13,000 miles hasn't started ticking off. I have drove many miles and it keeps saying 13,000 miles. Additionally, I want it to say service B due again and not A. I tried repeating the steps to reset that I did in the first place and it keeps saying service A due in 13,000, not B. ANy ideas on ...
A) Why mileage in the service counter is not moving?
B) How I can reset service indicator to say service B not A?
Thanks,
Here is my experience. I have a 2002 C230K 6 SPD. When the (service B due in 100 miles) message came up I tried to just reset the light. It didn’t work. So I changed the oil, started up the car and now it said "Service B due in 2200 miles" I then used the FSS reset procedure and now it said "service A due in 10000 miles". To me I guess it has to show proof in an oil change before it let me reset the light. And now that it says service A due, from my understanding the B service is the lesser service and the A service is the more mileage service. So it is important to keep the A and B always rotating it self like in my case my service B is every 10000 miles, and my service A is every 20000 miles. So a new car says service B due. Do service B then it says Service A due. Do service A then it says service B due again. Its just a dumb counter for minor service maintenance and major service maintenance.
Then you have the every 100,000K service the every 2 years and 4 years and all that. That all should be in the car's user manual. Remember yours is different because it is a newer car, and different engine. Mines A 2002 C230K with the 2.3L Kompressor motor.
I hope that helps and I hope I didn’t confuse you because I was A little confused my self in the beginning.

OK, so you reset the service indicator. Why do you want it to say service B again? It decides what it needs based on your milage and time elasped since production. It may say A service due next now but by the time you get there it may change to service B, C, D, etc........ Just leave it the way it is.
As for the counter not moving, it will move, it usually moves in round figures (50-100mi/km, very few move in 1mi/km increments. Don't worry about it, just drive. Have a look in a few weeks and it will have moved.
On vehicles with a 112, 113, 271, all these vehicles have an oil quality/level sensor...the car will know if you change the oil, by level and oil quality. But on the OP's car that has a 272 engine(if it's US), which only has an oil level switch, so that one will not know.
I get the voltage screen, and can see firmware versions, a (blank) VIN screen and one other screen with an ON/OFF configuration (forget what it said, I left it alone), but I never get the oil type screen.
