DTC Codes P0410, P0420, P0246

Hey all, been away and now I am back. I am posting in this category because I saw that there is a MB tech around here reading all this good stuff.

My main concern is the P0246 code or in MB world:

(P203A-001 M16/7 (air exchange valve adjustment part),practical potentiometer 1 signal voltage too high.[P0246])

The other codes are emission related and tied to the Super Charger (well I hope the CAT code goes away with a new Recirculating Air flap if need be).

I have been researching and working on this for a about one year now, and still not 100% sure on rolling $1200 dice for a new Recirculating Air flap. My question is, does code P0246 finally the proof I need to justify purchasing a new flap? I am not a MB mechanic, and I do not have the star diag tool. Any help much appreciated.

Thanks,

Rom

**UPDATE**

To all of you with 2002 C230K M111 engines supercharged and you guys and gals that get that sudden loss of power like you have 194 hampster power well this is the fix.

Problem:

Secondary injection DTC codes.
Lots of power gone. Engine feels compleatley flat with 20 HP
DTC code P0246
serious MPG issues like from 29-31 MPG down to about 22-23 MPG all of a sudden.

Diagnosis:

Shop looked at the car, used the start tool to test Air flap, and found it bad. Replaced flap with OEM!! part, retested and now presure is 8PSI constistanly from 2300 RPM to 4900 RPM and start dropping after that.

Conclusion:

Well it looks like taking it to a shop who knows what they are doing, and know how to trouble shoot pays off in the end. The down fall. Repair bill was $1608.45

$250 initial diagnosis Fee
$180 Intake track leak down test (smoke test)
$1178.45 for Air flap with labor and insatllation.

If there are any qustions or if this can be an addition to the NON Supercharger feel fix, please post, copy, modify, ask questions, PM me what ever you guys want.

I really hope this helps some people out. I love my car just like everbody here.

UPDATE

Well the problem is back but much less. I still get stored codes P201E-001 CAT effect too small [P0420] and P203A-001 M16/7 (air exchange valve adjustment part),practical potentiometer 1 signal
voltage too high.[P0246]

So back to the shop to have more diagnosis done.

It seem like all of the other codes related to supercharger are gone. po410 is gone as well. once in a while I have to reset the flap but very seldom. one reoccuring code has been P0420. This come on every other month. As is condition it passes smog with fliying colors.

This is a very good document explaining diagnosis for CAT codes. Take a look and see if this is somthing you can do. Just becasue a CAT code comes up does not always mean its a CAT. Check exaust leaks, intake leaks first. Hope this helps.
