2000 S class ignition settings

Is the baseline setting in the ignition correction program set up conservatively by MB to tolerate lower grade fuels than the recommended 91 octane, or is it set to the max?
Is the 93 RON option more aggressive with the timing than the baseline setting, perhaps allowing one to take advantage of the extra performance potential with the use of 93 octane gas?
Thanks
