Air Filters Change on 2005 SL500

Hi:

Can anyone tell me where the air filters are in a 2005 SL500 so I can go in and replace? Thanks,

They are inside the big black thing on top of the engine.

Grab the big black thing and pull up, turn over and remove (they stay in place) all the torx screws, remove the housings...

Thanks. There is a big black cover with the Mercedes symbol on it that I was able to pull off easily. But, there was nothing under there resembeling what you described. However, there's another black thing behind what I pulled off, where the 2 hoses lead into on either side. Does that pull off?

What you pulled off is just part of the big black cover, I usually leave them together. Yes now just pull the bigger black thing behind it with the hoses going into it. It has four large clips one at each corner, it might be tough, but yes it just pulls up.
