TRANSMISSION NOT SHIFTING IN TIME?
2005 C230SS with 48,000 miles
When I really get on it, and the rpms go up to around 5,500 and then take my foot off the gas, it does not shift into 4th or 5th immediately, but rather hangs up there a while before upshifting.
If I gradually accelerate, it shifts normally.
The dealer is telling me that if the car feels you are driving aggressively, it deliberately does not shift in case you want to get on it again, and will waits until it gets to red line before shifting.
Does this sound right to you?
If I'm not being too clear about what's going on, please ask any questions you have. Thanks!

Try resetting the adaptive parameter by doing this:
1. Turn the ignition key to the on (not start) position.
2. Press the gas pedal to the floor and hold for five seconds.
3. Turn the key to the "off" position (don't remove the key), then release the gas pedal.
4. Wait at least two minutes for it to reset.
Good Luck!

That's correct that it shouldn't upshift. It's mainly so that is you are on a winding road it won't upshift mid-corner. It won't always go to redline on the next shift though.
