cruise control malfunction

1990 300SE
cruise control malfunction
I have a 1990 300se that has a cruise control that below 70 mph pulses then diconnects, but above 70 mph or so it works ok. Can this problem be an easy part replacement or something else? thank you anyone Brian

Cruise amps on the W126 fail due to bad solder joints just like the fuel pump relays. Trouble is they are coated with goo, you can give it a try resoldering it (I have had luck at that) or send it in as a core for a rebuilt - avail on the web.

Location of Cruise controller?
Thanks for the reply! do you know where the cruise controller is located! and what on-line retailer do you recommend if I have to replace the controller? Again thanks a million!

Remove the fuzzy cardboard above the drivers feet and/or the SRS bolster on later cars. To the left of the brake pedal support is an aluminum extruded box sort of like 4 packs of camels, 2 above 2 - that size. There are probably some vendors in the Star magazine
