260E and S500 Coupe

Reprogram IR Keyless remote

I'm a new guy on this forum and have a 95 - S500 Coupe that has a IR keyless entry. I have one key that works fine and also have a second one that looks identical but from a different car. Dealer says that they can order a new one for my VIN # for about 120+$. Does anyone know a way to reprogram the IR part??

So far no input. My mechanic says the dealer should be able to reprogram but dealer says not possible.
Instructions in the owners manual for re-sync of the remote do not work with the new one and probably would only work with the original remote with the car.
