My 280GE has a perculiar starting habit that has caught me out on several occasions.

On turning the key the panel lights come on and there is nothing (a very quiet noise from engine compartment) for several seconds (even 15!!) then it burbles into life..... In order to start it I have to have the key turned fully for this long....

It has lead me to change the battery, distributor cap, leads, and have the starter motor serviced...

Any ideas as to the cause?
