I have a 1984 300SD. I parked it a few days ago after having driven it in the rain, apparently not shutting off the wipers first. When I next started the vehicle, the wipers were still on. I cannot stop them. I do have control over the high/low speed function, washer, turn signals, etc. Everything seems to work -- except the wipers won't stop. I did try disconnecting the battery to rest the circuit. Any opinions as to what the problem is and how to fix it? I fear replacing the entire control will be necessary. If so, how difficult would that be as a "do it yourself" project (moderate skills) or what might the typical cost of repair be. Is this a common problem? I've had cars where the wipers wouldn't work for on reason or another, but never one where they could not be stoped.
