I am putting a recovered theft E55 back together and unfortunatley the car is missing the instrument cluster. I have had trouble locating an E55 cluster but have noticed other models have very the exact looks of the cluster in an E55 ie CLK C230. Also I have noticed the 2000 e class has a mileage display a little bit bigger then the 99. Will this cluster from the 2000 still work and what other years and models can I use?

There are more things than just the dimensions and the looks. The speedo needs to be calibrated to the gear ration of the car. So, the smaller engine car wont fit in terms of the speedo and the odometer readings.
The newer the possible "candidates" for replacement are the more individual electronic gimmicks are in the cluster which will not match. Try EBAY or junk yard. Otherwise you spend tons of hours to make this thing work with little success.
